The Ambition & The Future

Our ambition is simple: we aim at breeding true-to-type connemara ponies. Nothing more, nothing less. We will do our part of the work to make sure, that also in 20 years in Denmark, you will be able to point out a connemara pony in a group of other ponies in the field.
The "old irish" folks are right to claim that if anatomy and temperament is correct/good, a connemara pony will be able to perform to almost any standard of functionality:
Not all connemara ponies will be Supreme Champions at the Clifden show grounds or will win a gold medal at the Olympic Show jumping. But some will, if we breed true to type!

We have the greatest respect for breeders with additional ambitions: Many breeders with many different objectives will be an advantage for the breeding of connemara ponies in Denmark.
We do not, however, have much respect for those danish breeders, who think they can ignore the rules and breeding principles of Ireland. We hope they come to their senses soon...

The Future

As we both have time consuming careers in our daily work, we do not have the time nor the physical space to build a very large connemara place. We will remain a small to medium sized stud with an objective to do whatever breeding activities we engage into in the very best way, we can.

At the outset of 2010 we have established a group of connemara ponies at Mørkhøj, representing some of the most outstanding bloodlines in Ireland, the UK and Denmark. We look forward to build our breeding on these.
